Osteoarthritis of Knee leads to chronic pain. This pain is due to continuous low grade inflammation occur in knee joint. Inflammation leads to neovascularization & along with this abnormal new vessel , new sensory nerves also develop. If treatment is planned with a target of occluding these abnormal newly developed vessel after inflammation, than pain can reduced.

Transcatheter arterial microembolization (TAME) for genicular artery is useful for treatment of osteoarthritis of knee joint. With blockage of this abnormal vessel, inflammatory process slow down & knee pain is reduced.
